Our history and where we started

Who are we?

Construcciones Metálicas Cañellas is a family business founded in Mallorca in 1968

We have been dedicated to the manufacture and assembly of steel structures for over 50 years in the Balearic Islands. The fourth generation is currently leading the business, offering our services in the Balearic island and the rest of Spain. We give each project a specific treatment, we apply the most strict quality controls and we reduce delivery times to the minimum in addition to offering the most competitive prices. We invest heavily in technology and automatization processes to provide improved service excellence.

Our history

From a blacksmith’s forge in Pòrtol to a benchmark in structural steel in the Balearic Islands, led by four generations of the Cañellas family.
  1. The origins

    The Pòrtol forge

    Bernardo Cañellas Vallespir works as a blacksmith in Pòrtol (Marratxí), making horseshoes, knives and farm tools. His son learns the trade at his side.

  2. 1968

    Construcciones Metálicas Cañellas is born

    Bernardo Cañellas Ramis founds the company, initially focused on metalwork and metal doors.

  3. 1974

    Move to Son Castelló

    The workshop grows and moves to the Son Castelló industrial estate in Palma. Steel structures for housing developments and industrial buildings follow.

  4. Third generation

    Heavy steel and hotel refurbishments

    Benito and Antonio Cañellas Llobet take over. The company moves into heavy steel: industrial buildings, offices, homes and major hotel refurbishments, in the Balearics and on the mainland.

  5. Today

    Fourth generation

    We are part of Grupo Cañellas. A team of around 70 people, 5,000 m² of our own facilities, an engineering office, production under factory production control with CE marking, and our own erection crews.
